Overview
Historic core, growing footprint
Franklin was founded in 1799 and is the seat of Williamson County. Its historic Main Street commercial and residential districts are listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and the city was the site of the Civil War's Battle of Franklin in 1864. Today the city spans roughly 45 square miles, bordered by Brentwood to the north and Nolensville to the east.
